Terms and Conditions

Last updated: June 2026

1. Purpose

These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of the critiq service (hereinafter, "the Service"), an AI-assisted literary evaluation platform available at critiq.review. Use of the Service constitutes full acceptance of these terms.

2. Service Description

critiq allows users to upload or paste the text of a short story and receive an automated evaluation generated by artificial intelligence based on a 10-category literary rubric. Evaluations are indicative and do not constitute editorial, literary, or legal advice.

3. Registration and User Account

Access to paid features requires authentication via a Google account. The user is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account and all activities carried out under it.

4. Plans and Pricing

  • Free Plan: one free full analysis, no card required.
  • Story Pass (2,99 €): one-time payment per project. Includes full analysis and up to 10 re-analyses of the same story.
  • 5-Analysis Pack (€11.99): credits to unlock 5 different projects with full analysis.

Prices include applicable VAT. We reserve the right to modify prices with at least 14 calendar days' prior notice.

5. Refund Policy

Once the full analysis has been initiated, the Story Pass is non-refundable, as the digital content delivery has begun at the user's request.

In the event of a technical failure attributable to the service that prevents delivery of the full analysis, the user may request a refund by contacting critiq.review@proton.me within 14 days of payment.

6. Acceptable Use

The user agrees not to:

  • Use the Service to evaluate illegal, offensive, or third-party rights-infringing content.
  • Attempt to circumvent the technical or payment restrictions of the Service.
  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service to third parties.
  • Automate access to the Service without prior written consent from the owner.

7. User Intellectual Property

The user retains all copyright in the stories they submit. By uploading a story, you grant critiq a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to process it solely for the purpose of generating the evaluation. critiq makes no claim of ownership over user texts.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service. Our maximum liability to any user shall not exceed the amount paid by that user in the preceding 12 months.

9. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated at least 14 days in advance by email or prominent notice on the Service. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Spanish law. Any disputes shall be submitted to the courts of Madrid, without prejudice to the rights granted to consumers under applicable consumer protection legislation.
